Boise, Idaho
Who:
You, we hope! This is a family-friendly shindig so bring the whole family, but please leave furry friends at home.
What:
We’re celebrating with a picnic potluck! Don’t forget to bring:
A picnic blanket and/or pillows (tables available for those who need ‘em)
Plates, cups, cutlery - let’s be as kind to the environment as possible!
BYOB (or wine - no hard stuff please)
A dish to share, plus the recipe written on notecards - see video for details!
Where:
Marianne Williams Park in Boise
3451 E. Barber Valley Dr., Boise (about 10 minutes drive from downtown)
Out of state friends, we hope you’ll be able to stay a little while to explore all that our Idahome has to offer! The Hinze-Hearts live in the Northend and there are lots of great AirBnBs in our neck of the woods.
When:
Please arrive between 3:30pm and 5pm. We’ll have dinner soon after, followed by plenty of dancing! We’ll wrap up around 7, but can keep the party going at the Hyde Park Street Fair.
Why:
We’re both super excited to meet and celebrate with each other’s family and friends, plus share some good memories with our mutual friends too! This is a casual get-together - so dress for comfort (and unpredictable Idaho weather) and we’ll see you in the park!
In lieu of gifts, we ask instead that you contribute to a collaborative project celebrating the food and culture of our blended community.
We’ve provided recipe cards in the hopes that you’ll share your SIGNATURE RECIPE - you know, the one the neighbors always request, the classic at family potlucks, the dish that’s got “you” written all over it. We hope you’ll share not just the recipe itself, but also the story - where did it come from originally? Was it passed down from another friend or family member? Stolen off a box of jello? A happy accident? What makes it your go-to or your favorite? (P.S. please don’t write in the top or bottom margins!)
Serve your dish in something pretty (it’s gonna get some glamor shots) and bring the cards with you to the party! (out of towners: need serving vessels? We got you.)
If you can’t attend, we’d still love to hear from you and collect your recipe! Just mail your cards back to the address on the envelope. (And let us know if you need more cards!)
Once we’ve had time to catch our breath and sort everything around, we’ll share a .pdf copy with anyone who is interested, plus the chance to order a hard copy at cost to keep as a family heirloom.
Betsy’s inarguable signature dish: nettle lemon cake!
